We are am so excited to get to know you both during such an exciting and special time in your lives. In preparation for your engagement session, we have listed below answers and tips to the most commonly asked questions. If you find yourself having any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Can’t wait to capture your love!
How long will the session last?
The engagement session is the perfect opportunity for us to get to know one another. It also warms you both up to being in front of the camera before your wedding day. At a minimum, you can expect it to last an hour, but we’ve had engagement sessions that have lasted up to two hours. It just depends on what you are interested in doing. Additionally, lighting and weather is best during the last few hours of the day, so we try to schedule the session during this time period whenever possible.
What should we wear?
In general, you should select clothing for the engagement session that reflects your personal style. Most couples bring one outfit, but two outfits, one casual and one dressy is most desirable. As a rule of thumb, you should avoid wearing red, busy patterns or large logos. Accessories (jewelry, hats, watches, belts, etc...) can be a great way to express your style and make the photographs more interesting. You should also know that close-ups of the hands are always taken.
Where should we have it?
The engagement locations in Southern California are absolutely endless. Great photographs can be taken anywhere. My general recommendation is to first consider a location that’s sentimental to the both of you, such as: where you met, where the proposal took place, favorite spot to eat, etc... Do we need a permit to take pictures there?
Some locations require a permit and/or charge a photography fee. The client will be responsible for any/all fees associated with the location desired (including entrance fee for photographer). Be sure to do your own research and contact the venue for current rules and pricing. Have a favorite location? Leave it in the comments, and we might add it to our list. Happy hunting
